Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones had a great week one against Kansas City. Expect more of the same from Jones in Week 2 against Denver. ED ZURGA/Associated Press
1.) I will not win in my big money league, again. Last week my team scored 63.6 points with
Adrian Peterson (21.55) and
Jeremy Maclin (17.8) sitting comfortably on the bench while they rested because of injuries. I’ve gotten very comfortable drafting eighth each year.
2.)
Julio Jones is the next big thing at receiver. After a 23-point performance against the Chiefs last week, Jones will put up similar numbers against Denver on Monday night in the Georgia Dome.
3.)
Adrian Peterson is a freak of nature. On Thursday, Peterson said he is about “95 percent” of what he was before getting hurt.
4.) Having a Carolina Panthers running back on your roster might be the most frustrating thing on earth. Heart surgery? No problem. Forecasting the weather? Done. But trying to figure out who will score more points between
DeAngelo Williams and
Jonathan Stewart is impossible. Neither is a great option when the Panthers stop running the ball.
5.) A new show coming out this fall is a re-make of the classic TV show starring Tom Hanks, “Bosom Buddies.” Only this time the show revolves around the wacky relationship of
Jay Cutler and
Brandon Marshall of the Bears. Cutler and Marshall should put up some impressive numbers against Green Bay on Thursday night.
6.) The Dolphins are terrible.
7.) New England has found a running back in
Stevan Ridley. Against the Titans last week, Ridley put up 125 yards rushing on 21 attempts and scored one touchdown. Ridley finished with six rushes of more than 10 yards in week one. What happens when a defense must prepare for Tom Brady to throw the ball 40 times a game and a running back who can put the game away in the second half? It mean less Wes Welker.
8.) More
Mark Sanchez and less
Tim Tebow mean you win football games. Also, when
Shonn Greene runs the ball 27 times, your chance of winning improves.
9.)
Coby Fleener will save your season. If you missed out on one of the big five options at tight end, Fleener will give you enough points to stay alive for a championship season. In week 1, Fleener was in the top 15 based on number of targets from quarterback. He had 10 and pulled down six catches for 82 yards.
10.)
Cedric Benson will rush for a 1,000 yards and score 10 TDs this season. He only has 982 yards left to go after week one.
