UPDATE: The new trailer has been released and Agent Ennis Cole has made his decisison and it is quite the heavy one. Also, it seeems more trailers will be coming to continue the story.

ORIGINAL POST

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified (Once just simply called XCOM) has gone through some major changes over the years. It started out as a first-person shooter and changed into a full-on third-person squad combat title. It has been restyled at least four times already and has been delayed several times. However, the iteration it is on now seems to be what we will be getting come August 20 and 2K Games is advertising it pretty hard and quite interestingly if I say the least with live-action trailers.

These live-action-trailers show no gameplay with them but have probably become the most interesting of all the trailers they have released for them. They tell an intricate story and 2K Games is subtlety showing the menace and hardships these aliens will perhaps put on the human race.

“The Burn Room”
We first saw this trailer back in April around the time the game got its brand new title. Here we have a happy-go-lucky kid, who eventually becomes the star of these trailers, riding his bike down the street in 1962. The trailer quickly transitions into some sort of bunker filled with G-Men watching footage of something. If you pay attention to the trailer you will see that the scenes are connected as you see a quick glance of the boy’s bike destroyed signifying something has gone very wrong and that extraterrestrials were involved.

Ch2 KNOV – “Orbit & The Asteroids”
Up next you have perhaps what is the best of the trailers so far. Upon first watching I skimmed through it thinking this was some viral marketing for the game and had no real substance to it, but what you get are sinister beginnings to this whole story as well as the name of our main character, Kevin, before he takes his bike ride. I don’t want to spoil it for you, so take a look yourself.

Agent Ennis Cole: The Choice
Now we’ve come to what appears to be the penultimate chapter of this trailer saga. We have Agent Ennis Cole (played by Lord of the Rings’ Dominic Monaghan) retelling the events of the first trailer and what transpired afterwards. Now he has been tasked with recording the events of the encounter and must subsequently deny that they ever took place. But that might be a problem for him and may lead to an even darker outcome that will be left up to the fans.

2K Games is really pushing The Bureau: XCOM Declassified and these trailers are doing it justice to get people excited about the upcoming title. What do you think the outcome of this story will be?
