Tickets for "The Dark Knight Rises," the only other movie this summer to challenge "The Avengers" in the category of "most-anticipated movie," have gone on sale.
Moviegoers on July 20 will be able to see it in digital screenings as well as IMAX giant-screen showings. They can see it at midnight on opening day, in the middle of the night, and first thing in the morning.
AMC Southroads 20 will have the entire trilogy available on IMAX, following the news that "Batman Begins," the 2005 first film in director Christopher Nolan's series, has undergone an IMAX conversion for the new marathon event.
At AMC 20 on July 19, the ticket is $40 for IMAX showings of "Batman Begins" beginning at 6 p.m.; followed by 2008's "The Dark Knight" about 9 p.m. (20 minutes was shot with IMAX cameras); and finishing with "The Dark Knight Rises" at 12:01 a.m. (one hour was shot with IMAX cameras).
AMC Southroads 20 is also offering the marathon in a digital presentation for $25. Non-IMAX tickets for "The Dark Knight Rises" at midnight are $9, and the PG-13 movie has a running time of 2 hours, 45 minutes.
At Cinemark Tulsa at 71st Street and U.S. 169, "The Dark Knight Rises" will have an IMAX screening at midnight, followed by a 3:30 a.m. showing, and then a 9 a.m. showtime to start Friday's daily shows.
The Cinemark theater has set 9 a.m. screenings for "The Dark Knight" in IMAX for each day of the first week, allowing them to show the film five times a day.
Cinemark's non-IMAX marathon is also $25, and individual midnight showings of "The Dark Knight Rises" are $9.
Advance tickets for the film's midnight opening shows are now available at most local theaters.
