The Prairie Nerds first mission was a rousing success, but this was only the beginning of what the aliens have in store for the Earth. A few days pass and another mission comes in for the Prairie Nerds: A Council mission. These are missions that come personally from the Council of Nations. Taking on these are of high priority and can give a team great resources to use, so let’s get to work.
OPERATION DYNG RAIN
Location: Beijing, China
Prairie Nerd Soldiers: Dambold, Powers, Royal, Codutti
Objective: Locate and extract Anna Sing.
Anna Sing was reported abducted by the alien forces, but has somehow managed to escape. Finding her and bringing her back alive are top priority in this mission.
The team touches down right in an urban area in Beijing. Benches and a small fountain park structure could provide great cover if things get out of hand. Powers moves forward and spots a Thin Man (Humanoid-actually-human-looking alien) armed with a Light Plasma Rifle. Thin Men are perhaps the infiltrators of this alien invasion as they look human, wear suits and sport sunglasses. They almost look like government agents, but their attacks are anything but human. Royal takes cover behind a park bench and has the Thin Man in sight.

The team presses further into the fountain park. Royal performs a defensive maneuver and goes into overwatch; ready to fire at any sign of alien movement. Codutti moves forward and two Sectoids are spotted. Both go for cover, but not before Royal fires off a reaction shot.

One of the Sectoids is taken down, however, the remaining Sectoid decides on a little payback for its fallen comrade.

Dambold decides to step up and take aim at the remaining Sectoid.

As the team moves forward, Codutti finally locates Anna Sing trapped behind an emergency sign. Powers moves up and makes contact with Sing. With the target now secured, the Prairie Nerds now have to escort her back to the extraction site. However, another Thin Man jumps down onto a bus and goes into overwatch and stands by to take down Sing if she makes a move; but not on Power’s watch. In a move of heroics, Powers dashes forward to draw the Thin Man’s attention away from Sing.

Powers then quickly counters with an attack of his own.

With the immediate threat taken care of, the team continues to escort Sing back to the extraction site. The team moves forward making sure the coast is clear before giving Sing directions to advance forward. With the Sky Ranger in sight, the mission seems all but over, but one last alien decides to make a desperate move. A Thin Man jumps down in front of the Sky Ranger and goes into overwatch and waits for anybody to make any sudden moves.

The Thin Man acts and decides to take aim at Dambold who is posted up behind a bus.

With the Thin Man distracted by Dambold, Royal decided to use it to his advantage.

With the path to The Sky Ranger once again clear, Sing books it to the extraction site and safely gets aboard. The Prairie Nerds have secured their objective.

The day has once again been saved by the Prairie Nerds. A VIP is safely evacuated from alien clutches and the Nerds roster is filled out even more with much needed Sniper and Support soldiers. The alien activity is sure to pick up now that the aliens know one of their abductees escaped and was extracted by XCOM soldiers. Tune in next week as the missions pick up.
