Sorry for being late. The Prairie Nerds decided to take a break for Labor Day. Now it’s back to saving the world.
A simple mission today for the Nerds. Standard seek and destroy protocol for this one. If it isn’t human, it needs to die.
OPERATION SECRET GROVE
Location: Germany
Prairie Nerd Soldiers: Clayton, Powers, Dambold, Royal + 1 nameless rookie
Objective: Eliminate all alien targets
The Sky Ranger carrying the Nerds touches down in the once bustling streets somewhere in Germany. Now fires are everywhere and civilians appear to be incased in green webbing. This city has seen better. Powers takes point and decides to move up behind solid cover. A Sectoid appears and Powers decides to engage the target.
Squaddie Jason Powers | VS. | Sectoid |
| OUTCOME: The Sectoid takes a direct hit and goes down hard. |
The team presses forward with no further alien life in sight, but the team knows it’s not going to be that easy. A strange noise can be heard in the distance, but Rookie Clayton is not startled and rushes forward. However, that proves to be quite the mistake as a Thin Man was waiting for him in Overwatch.
Thin Man | VS. | Rookie Matt Clayton |
| OUTCOME: The Thin Man's shot narrowly misses Clayton. |
Clayton is lucky to be still up and running after that maneuver. Still ducking behind cover, he decides to fire off a few shots of his own.
Rookie Matt Clayton | VS. | Thin Man |
| OUTCOME: Clayton's shot connects and the Thin Man goes down. |
As the Thin Man goes down, a weird blue and green mist seems to explode from the alien corpse. Squaddie Dambold thinks the team should investigate it, but Powers shoots down the idea and has the team press forward. This isn’t a research mission.
The Prairie Nerds advance and discover two more Sectoids. They are spotted and the Sectoids quickly head for cover. One decides to take a shot at the Nerds.
Sectoid | VS. | Squaddie Jason Powers |
| OUTCOME: Powers takes a direct hit to the chest, but is still standing. |
Powers is hurt, but that doesn’t stop him. As he is recovering from his wound, the second Sectoid then does a peculiar move. A glowing purple light erupt from the Sectoid’s head and hits the second Sectoid in its head, however it does not appear to be hurt. In fact, the Sectoid seems to be empowered by being hit by it. This could pose a problem for the Prairie Nerds, but Powers decides it finally time to do some research…with bullets.
Squaddie Jason Powers | VS. | Sectoid |
| OUTCOME: Powers aims for the Sectoid's cranium and hits. |
Green goo erupts from the Sectoid’s head as it and falls lifeless to the floor. As that happens, a static charge emanates from the Sectoid that was hit by the purple light and falls to the floor motionless as well. Powers makes a note of that and continues on the mission.
Pressing onwards, the Prairie Nerds are almost blinded by a light source that seems to come out of nowhere.

From it, a new type of alien materializes and appears to be carrying some type of rifle. The alien quickly takes aim.
Outsider | VS. | Squaddie Jason Powers |
| OUTCOME: The new alien shoots wide missing Powers. |
A hail of green plasma shoots far right missing Powers. Had they of hit him, Powers would have been in serious trouble. The team decides to keep their distance not wanting to be hit by this new weapon. Clayton moves up to the left side of the alien and engages it.
Rookie Matt Clayton | VS. | Outsider |
| OUTCOME: The alien takes the hit but is still standing. |
With the Outsider distracted, Squaddie Royal takes this opportunity to get into a flanking position.
Squaddie James Royal | VS. | Outsider |
| OUTCOME: The shotgun shells rip through the alien |
The alien quickly disintegrates and vanishes as quickly as the thing appeared. The alien weapon it carries explodes into dozens of fragments. The Prairie Nerds decide to gather them up and take them back to base for further study.

The team climbs back aboard the Sky Ranger with weapon fragments in hand and decide to head directly to the research lab for analysis. One of the doctors deduces that the last enemy they encountered was perhaps made of pure energy as it could appear and disappear so quickly. Further research at a later time may be in order.
The team once again return to the barracks triumphant. Tune in next week to see what unfolds.
