Guthrie sure is looking fine this afternoon.
I'm typing this from the stoop of one of downtown Guthrie's many old buildings, a band playing in the background and behind then, the Carnegie Library where Oklahoma's first governor took the oath of office. People are wandering around checking out the town with a line of cars waiting to get here, and Phil Nichols is thrilled.
Phil is one of the co-owners of OPS Resellers downtown. They have a giant sheet on the front window, covered in mustaches and other Gentlement of the Road designs. He told me earlier this is something Guthrie is thrilled about.
"It's been cool to see people come together to make it pull off. Everybody is really happy," he said.
I've been wondering around town a while now and I'd say he's right. Everyone seems to be happy, ignoring the heat and traffic the best they can.
