Monday-April 15American Indian symposiumStarting Monday, Northeastern State University in Tahlequah will be hosting several events throughout the week during the 40th annual Symposium on the American Indian. This year’s theme, “The Journey of Sovereign Nations: Self-Determination and Human Rights,” will reflect on the past four decades of development and change for American Indian tribes.
The symposium is presented by the NSU Center for Tribal Studies and will include film screenings, cultural events, book discussions, powwows, and numerous lectures and workshops. All events are free and open to the public. For more information and a more detailed schedule, visit

MondayBooks Sandwiched InCatch a quick review of Michael Beschloss and Caroline Kennedy’s book, “Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life With John F. Kennedy.” The book will be reviewed by Mary Wheeler Brown, past chairwoman of the Peggy V. Helmerich Distinguished Author Award Dinner, from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. at Central Library’s Aaronson Auditorium.
Tuesday‘Pipes and Sticks’Five of the world’s most accomplished pipers and drummers will stop in Tulsa as part of the “Pipes and Sticks on Route 66” tour. The group will consist of pipers Stuart Liddell, Willie McCallum and Angus MacColl, and snare drummer Jim Kilpatrick, all from Scotland, and bass drummer and percussionist Mike Cole from Chicago.
The event will be held in the auditorium at OSU-Tulsa, 700 N. Greenwood Ave., at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets are $25, available at the door or online at

Thursday“The Lost Pages of Snow White”Here comes another twist on a fairy tale, presented by Encore! Theatre Arts.
The family-friendly show will feature adventure, magic and comedy, as good and evil characters fight for control of the fairy tale kingdom.
Characters from another recent Encore production, "The Lost Pages of Cinderella," will reappear, including Puss in Boots, Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks, and will cross paths "in new and hilarious ways," according to the PAC.
Performances are set for Thursday through April 15. Thursday's performance is at 7:30 p.m. at the PAC's Liddy Doenges Theatre. Tickets are $16, available at
