Some things going on around town this week.

Sunday
George Washington exhibit
About 100 original objects associated with George Washington will be on display at Gilcrease Museum when "Discover the Real George Washington: New Views from Mount Vernon" opens on Sunday. The exhibit runs through Sept. 23, and will introduce people to the person behind the president.
The exhibit will look at Washington's life as a young land surveyor, farmer and entrepreneur. His views on religion and slavery are also explored.

Monday
Musical Mondays
Life Senior Services’ 11th annual concert series, Musical Mondays, designed especially for Tulsa-area seniors, continues Monday, June 25. At 7 p.m., Emily Sahler Beleele and Amy Cottingham will perform at the Cascia Hall Performing Arts Center, 2520 S. Yorktown Ave. Theater parking is at 2600 S. Utica Ave. Tickets are $8 per concert, available at the LIFE Senior Services office, 5950 E. 31st St.; by phone at 918-664-9000, ext. 245; or online at tulsaworld.com/musicalmondays2012.

Tuesday

‘Spilling the Beans’
The last session of Tulsa City-County Library’s “Spilling the Beans: Our Food System on Film” program is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 26 at Central Library. The program screens documentary films on the country’s food system. This week, the film “Fresh” will be shown. Rita Scott, president of Sustainable Green Country, will speak after the film. Free popcorn and drinks will be available.

Wednesday
Farmers markets
Don't forget that several farmers markets are currently open. Check out either of these for your middle-of-the-week needs: From 8 a.m. to noon, stop by the Brookside Farmers Market in the Food Pyramid parking lot at 39th Street and Peoria Avenue or the Owasso Farmers Market at the Owasso YMCA, on the service road just west of U.S. 169.

Thursday
Story Time in the Garden
Looking for story time somewhere other than the library? Take the kids to Linnaeus Teaching Garden in Woodward Park at 10 a.m. Thursday. The gardeners will read a story revolving around nature. The event is free. Story times are set for every Thursday through August.
