Moviestar Cinema in south Broken Arrow became the Tulsa-area's third discount movie house on Friday, showing second-run movies at an easy-to-remember price: Any movie, any day or time, is $2.

"We want people to remember that price, but also that there is one exception: It's $1 for any movie on Tuesdays," said Blake Smith, the operator of Moviestar Cinema.

He reopened the former Cinemark theater, located at a shopping center on the southwest corner of 101st Street and 161st East Avenue, in May 2011 with new screens and projectors to show first-run films at reduced prices.

"But we would run this special of $2 dollar movies on Tuesdays, and it was by far our biggest day, so we decided that the area might be better served by a full discount moviehouse," Smith said. "It's a nice little theater, and it's in a nice location in Broken Arrow.”

Moviestar Cinema is more than eight miles away from either of the area's other "dollar-movie" theaters, Movies 8 at 6808 S. Memorial Drive and Super Saver Cinema at 5970 E. 31st St.

Moviestar Cinema opened Friday with the following films playing, with $2 tickets for all showtimes: "Skyfall"; "Wreck-it Ralph"; "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2"; "Red Dawn"; "Rise of the Guardians"; and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre."
