I never considered myself a superstitious person until my Friday the 13th wreck this January.
Of course, I really don't believe it was the day's fault. Still, I'm quite wary of Friday's highly improbable but not 100 percent unlikely chance of turning into a slasher flick.
With that scary sugarplum pirouetting in your head, here are some places to avoid on Friday the 13th:
7th & Elgin. This is where my wreck occurred Jan. 13, 2012. Just sayin'.
Ladders leaning against buildings. You never know when a paint can or ... I don't know, whatever tool that someone on a ladder might need, will fall on you should you walk around it. Generally, I find it wise to avoid anyone doing manual labor, just in case you're asked to help.
People in hockey masks. That should go without saying.
People in any kind of mask, now that I think about it.
Your taxes -- if you're like me. We still have 'til 11 p.m. Monday, right?
The Strawberries & Creme Frappuccino at Starbucks. Did you see
my blog Thursday? Stick with the mocha or caramel frappuccino instead, at least for now. Those yummy little breakfast wrap things are good, too. Mmm ...

Kilkenny's Irish Pub, 1413 E. 15th St. Assuming the Irish are as lucky as we've been led to believe all these years, what with their blarney stones, wish-granting leprechauns and marshmallow cereal, it couldn't hurt to pay this cool place a visit. Try the Craigue boxty here, it's AWESOME!
Arnie's Bar, 318 E. Second St. See above. Plus, when has a Guinness ever been unlucky?
Mazzio's. Afraid to venture out? Bunker yourself in at home, and order up the Lucky 7 pizza. Just be sure to look through your peep hole before opening the door.
Lucky's, 1536 E. 15th St. Ask mixologist Liz for sexy "House of Night" author P.C. Cast's favorite Chili Rita, a grapefruit juice-tequila-sriracha concoction that pairs deliciously with ... Well, just about anything on the menu (although I'm partial to the Caesar salad with calamari).
