Books, music and educational fun are on the calendar this week.
Women of Character lectureJulie Hadden, one of the contestants on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,” will be the speaker at the Girl Scouts’ Women of Character lecture today. The event is set for 7 p.m. at the University of Tulsa’s Lorton Performance Center, 550 S. Gary Place.
Hadden will share her story with the audience. She also will sign copies of her book, “Fat Chance: Losing the Weight, Gaining My Worth,” which will be sold at the event.
A Live Healthy, Lead Healthy expo will precede the event, starting at 6 p.m.
Tickets are $25, available at the door.
Art CrawlThe Brady District’s First Friday Art Crawl is this Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. Events include the opening of the “Oh, Tulsa! Biennial” exhibit at Living Arts of Tulsa and the grand opening reception of Jacob Gallery.
Philbrook Downtown and the Woody Guthrie Center will offer free admission.
Music includes the Randy Rogers Band at Cain’s Ballroom and the Starlight Jazz Orchestra at Guthrie Green.
Free concertsSummer’s Fifth Night continues at Utica Square. Enjoy some rock music from Traveler this week at 7 p.m. today.
This month’s Gardens of LaFortune concert, at 51st Street and Hudson Avenue, is set for 7 p.m. Friday. Beacon Drive will perform ’60s, ’70s and ’80s music.
On Saturday, more rock music can be found at the Riverwalk Crossing Concert Series. At 8 p.m., Sticks and Stones will perform.
‘Read to Feed’It’s again time for Broken Arrow Neighbors’ Read to Feed book fair. The sale is set for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 315 W. College St. in Broken Arrow. Thousands of books and magazines, puzzles, games, audio books, CDs and DVDs will be available.
All proceeds will benefit the organization, which provides emergency assistance services such as food, financial help, medical care and clothing to Broken Arrow residents.
Civil War SesquicentennialThe Civil War Sesquicentennial will be at Central Library, Fourth Street and Denver Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
The living history event will feature presentations, music and games for the whole family. Several participants will be a part of the free event, including a group from the Fort Gibson Historic Site, which will set up a Civil War campsite at the library and come dressed in Civil War uniforms.
The event will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the battle of Gettysburg.
Civil War stories will be told at 10:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., music of the Civil War will be played at 11:30 a.m. and the reading of the Gettysburg Address is set for noon.

Bridging The Gap WalkThe ninth annual Bridging The Gap Walk is set for Saturday at Centennial Park Center, 1028 E. Sixth St. The event, which runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon, includes music, games and food, in addition to the walk.
The walk benefits The Bridges Foundation, which serves individuals with developmental disabilities.

Guthrie Green eventsThe Guthrie Green, 111 E. Brady St., is back in action.
Enjoy the Sunday Market at the park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The market will feature locally grown produce and other items, including jewelry and fine art.
From 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, the Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice is sponsoring its Tulsa Unites concert series. Live music and speakers will be part of the event.
