Music and art dominate this weekend, with a bit of comedy mixed in.

Dance music
Join The Tulsa Playboys for some Western swing dance at Cain’s Ballroom, 423 N. Main St., at 7 p.m. today (April 5). Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Tickets are $12.50 and are available at the door or in advance at tulsaworld.com/cains or by calling 918-584-2306.

Or head out to hear singers Pam Van Dyke Crosby, Cindy Cain and Rebecca Ungerman of Sweet & Hot Productions at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 6 at the Jazz Hall of Fame, 111 E. First St. The trio, with producer P. Casey Morgan, are presenting an ongoing series of “Dance at the Depot” shows. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the door, online at tulsaworld.com/mytix, or by calling 918-281-8600.

Art
Northeastern State University-Broken Arrow, 3100 E. New Orleans St., is hosting an opening reception for “Art in April,” an art show and sale presented by the Green Country Watercolor Society. The reception is set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today in the Administrative Services Building. The art will be on display through April 27.

Gilcrease Museum, 1400 N. Gilcrease Museum Road,, is hosting a lunch-hour lecture from noon to 1 p.m. Friday. So bring a sack lunch and head to the museum for the “From My Point of View” lecture. Dr. Diana du Pont, a specialist in modern and contemporary art, will discuss Thomas Gilcrease’s fascination with Mexican works and how he brought them to Oklahoma. The lecture will be held in Gallery 18, and it’s free with paid museum admission.

And the Brady Arts District is hosting its First Friday Art Crawl starting at 6 p.m. Friday. Galleries throughout the district will open their doors to visitors for this monthly event.

Night of comedy
Comedian Carlos Mencia returns to Tulsa for a stand-up performance 8 p.m. Friday at the Tulsa Convention Center Assembly Hall, 100 Civic Center. The tour is full of new material, he said. Tickets are $35, plus fees, available by phone at 1-877-TULSA-CC and online at tulsaworld.com/conventioncenter.

80s Prom
And if you want a reason to dress up in your best 80s attire, Tulsa’s 80s Prom is at 8 p.m. Saturday at the IDL Ballroom, Enso and Electric Circus, 230 E. First St. Tickets are $13 in advance and $17 day of event, available at tulsaworld.com/80sprom, Dwelling Spaces, Enso and Starship Records. The event will also feature a Prom King & Queen contest. Must be 21 to enter.
This year's event will feature DJs Robbo, Lynn K, Sean Kibble, Demko, Kylie, Xylo, Falkirk and Samurai Jack. Comedian Hilton Price will emcee.
