Chad Ford of ESPN.com reported on Monday night that the Oklahoma City has been “proactive” in trying to get the No. 1 pick in Thursday night’s NBA Draft.

The Thunder currently owns the No. 12, No. 29 and No. 32 picks in the draft.

Read the full story from Ford here.

According to Ford: “They (the Cavaliers) are engaged in trade talks with a number of teams. Sources say the Thunder, Timberwolves and Blazers have been the most proactive in trying to get the No. 1 pick – but so far neither team has persuaded the Cavs to move out of the top pick. The Cavs have narrowed down their list of prospects, according to sources, and it looks like it may ultimately come down to a battle between Kentucky's (Nerlens) Noel and Maryland’s Alex Len. I’m still persuaded, though not convinced, that it will be Noel.”

OKC has the right mix of draft picks and potential stars on the bench in Jeremy Lamb and Perry Jones III to get something like this done. If the Thunder does get a deal done, who would they take? I think they might lean towards Len given his size and scoring ability in the paint.

Here’s a story John Rohde of The Oklahoma wrote earlier this month about Len who played college basketball at Maryland.

It’s still hard to imagine something like this gets done before the draft on Thursday. The Cavs are still trying to put together a winning team after losing LeBron James a few years ago. Trading away the No. 1 pick doesn’t help that image much, but it could help on the court, especially if the Cavs are able to secure several picks in the 2014 draft.
