It's not often that you buy movie tickets close to two months in advance, but not every movie is the kickoff to the summer movie season: "The Avengers."
Tickets for "The Avengers" go on sale online at midnight tonight (Thursday), and they are likely to sell quite well for the May 4 team-up of Marvel Comics characters including Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, the Incredible Hulk and more.
AMC Southroads 20 confirmed that they will have tickets on sale online at midnight. That will be important to some because "The Avengers" will open in its giant-screen IMAX auditorium as well as several other digital theaters. "The Avengers" is also in 3-D.
AMC will have tickets on sale tonight for the midnight screenings to be held late on the night of May 3 as well as for other showtimes within the first week.
Cinemark Tulsa, which houses Tulsa's original IMAX theater, will also go online with "Avengers" ticket sales at midnight tonight (or 12:01 a.m. Friday, if you want to be technical).
That seems late to stay up tonight buying online tickets, but maybe that's OK this one time; most of the kids I know have tomorrow off from school for an early start to spring break week.
