Toby Keith isn't going to the
Country Music Association Awards show on Nov. 1 in Nashville, even though he's nominated for Video of the Year for his hit single "Red Solo Cup."
"Hell no, I ain't showing up. I gotta go get a root canal that day, or something fun," he told
Country Weekly magazine. No matter that the event is often called "country music's biggest night."
He's won only two of the 27 awards he's been nominated for. This year's nomination was the first since a quartet of nominations way back in 2005. That year, he won Music Video of the Year for "As Good As I Once Was," directed by Michael Salomon. His second award was back in 2001 for Male Vocalist of the Year, according to the official CMA Awards website.
The show airs 7 p.m. Nov. 1 on the ABC network.
... So much for Keith thinking about his fans, who most likely will be watching the show and supporting his nomination.
