Yes, it's snowing, but after the last few months, we all should be able to deal with traveling in this stuff.
In any case, it will be worth the effort to make it to the Tulsa PAC for Tulsa Ballet's "The Contemporaries," a mixed bill of works by Nacho Duato, Young Soon Hue and Stanton Welch.
Welch's work is the new one of the three, and it is an extraordinary thing to see. If you have ever wondered how fast the human body can move, this ballet will show you. There are passages where the Tulsa Ballet dancers are moving at such speeds that almost are literal blurs onstage. Yet speed isn't the only draw for this ballet. There are two duets that are among most sensual and challenging we've seen, and an overall ambiguity as to the intention behind this ballet that makes it a dance work that will haunt the mind.
Duato's always stunning "Por vos Muero" and Hue's tragicomic "This is Your Life" round out the program.
