Fireworks seen from the 31st Street pedestrian bridge during Tulsa's annual ONEOK Freedom Fest explode in a burst of fiery colors over the skyline of downtown Tulsa on July 4. KT King/Tulsa World
Tulsa has come very close to setting records recently, so I just wanted to separate the records from the near-records.
Here are some near-records:
Winter 2011-2012: Sixth-warmest
January 2012: Seventh-warmest
March 2012: Ninth-driest
April 2012: 10th-warmest
May 2012: Second-warmest
May 2012: Fourth-driest
June 2012: 18th-warmest
We were also 3 degrees away from tying our June record for hottest day (June 10, 1933 hit 108 degrees), but that's not to say we didn't set a record with that hot June day.
And now, the real records:
March 2012: Warmest average temperature, 61.5 degrees (beat 1910's 61.3 degree-average)Spring 2012: Warmest average temperature, 67.2 degrees (beat 1936's 64.9 degree-average)January-June 2012: Hottest average temperature, 62.1 degrees (beat 2006's 60.2 degree-average) June 25: Hottest temperature, 105 degrees (tied 1933's high)I will check back in periodically the rest of the year as new records are set, or nearly set.
