Saturday will be a day of poignant celebrations at two long-time Tulsa art galleries.
It will be the final day of operation for Color Connection Gallery, 2050 Utica Square, which will close after 19 years. The gallery wasn’t the city’s first artist-owned co-operative galley, but it was the most successful, thanks to its prolific and generous owner-artists.
Those artists – Anke Dodson, Joanna Duck Tuers, Margaret Enright, Joey Frisillo, Jeannie Graham, Linda McIntyre, Barbara O'Neil, Carla Perry, Robert Reed, Diane Salamon and Shirley Ward – will offer a 15 percent discount on all items on sale. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The other milestone will be celebrated at The Art Market, 5014 S. Sheridan Road, to mark the gallery’s 35th anniversary. Owner Linda Greever established the gallery, which has had several locations over the years, as a show place for work by Oklahoma American Indian artists.
The Art Market has hosted just about every major Indian artist at one point in time, and a goodly number of those artists have put together a special anniversary show and sale, that will be from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at the gallery. A portion of the proceeds from sales during the show will go to help Linda Greever, who was seriously injured in an automobile accident in September.
