Union’s football program has a deal in the works to play Texas football powerhouse Southlake Carroll in 2014 and 2015.
One of the games would be played in AT&T Stadium, formerly Cowboys Stadium, the $1.2 billion facility built by Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones in Arlington, Texas.
The other game would be played at Union-Tuttle Stadium, Union athletic director Emily Warren said during a break in activities at the Oklahoma Coaches Association convention.
Warren said the order of games has not been determined, but it is likely the 2014 game will be played in Arlington.
"We've been working on this for years," she said.
Such a series would continue Union's commitment to playing nationally prominent out-of-state opponents.
"We're trying to do at least one every year," Warren said. "We think it's good for our kids."
Union lost to Euless (Texas) Trinity 21-18 last season as part of a doubleheader at Trinity's Pennington Stadium. Jenks lost to DeSoto, Texas, 46-27 in the other game, and the same four schools swap opponents for similar games Sept. 7 in Southlake's Dragon Stadium.
Since 2000, the Redskins have played Clovis, Calif.; Hoover, Ala.; Canton (Ohio) McKinley and Shreveport (La.) Evangel. The Redskins also had a six-game series with Fort Smith Northside in 1992-97 and played Farmington, N.M., in 1996-97.
Southlake Carroll has won nine Texas state titles since 1988. The most recent came in 2011 with a 36-29 win over Fort Bend Hightower in the 2011 Class 5A Division I final.
Union has won seven of Oklahoma's last 11 Class 6A titles and owns eight gold balls overall.
