TV legend Andy Griffith "died peacefully in his sleep" and has been buried on his farm, According to tmz.com.
The 86-year-old actor, producer and singer, who died early Tuesday morning, has "been laid to rest on his beloved farm on Roanoke island, N.C.," according to the website of Twiford Funeral Homes in Manteo, N.C.
The funeral home posted the obituary this afternoon, adding Griffith's "favorites causes" were Outer Banks Conservationists and the Andy and Cindi Griffith Scholarship Fund at UNC-Chapel Hill for those wishing to make a donation in his name.
The entertainment website reported the actor, star of "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Matlock" among other productions, had asked to be buried immediately following his death.
His 10:30 a.m. burial took place "following a small, private service with close friends and family in attendance." It is legal in North Carolina to bury people without embalming, the website reported.
