Looks like Disney is trying to lure in Sex and the City addicts like me, with their promotion for the Blu-Ray edition of ...
Call me a commoner, but I had no idea it took a full year before Kate Middleton would become a 'fully fledged' royal.

Call me superficial, but I've always rushed to the news stands to buy the annual People magazine Most Beautiful issue.

I was excited to see the new trailer for Dark Shadows, which dropped just last week, for many reasons.
It seems to me that Johnny Depp and longtime collaborator Tim Burton have hit creative gold with this funny twist on the eerie late-1960s supernatural soap.
But I hadn't watched a single episode of Dark Shadows.
It seemed odd to me that fans had started complaining about the Burton trailer, saying it seemed too funny, that it wasn't taking Dark Shadows seriously enough.
How serious can you take a vampire soap anyway? But as a rampant Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan, I get it.
So, thanks to streaming Netflix, I started watching the show. And I love it.
I can see how the hardcore fans might be miffed, especially if you watched this show after school every day.
With all its fantastic, campy glory, (and a wonderfully creepy-yet-melodramatic score, as my colleague James Watts Jr. rightly pointed out just now), I'm sure it would have been my favorite, too.
Still, I'm a sucker for a good Depp-Burton collaboration, and I've not been impressed with their last few attempts -- Alice in Wonderland was so-so; Sweeney Todd was, well Sweeney Todd; and I hated Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
So this looks like it could be a really fun movie. Who knows? I guess it will all come down to whether or not you buy Depp as Barnabas Collins (the best vampire name ever in my opinion).
What do you think? A total riot, or lacking in Shadows?
