I was just having a conversation this weekend with my husband about who was the better "grunge" singer -- Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, or his friend, Chris Cornell of Soundgarden.

The subject came up in light of Vedder's upcoming shows at the Brady Theater in April.

We agreed that both have tremendous voices, and are so good in their own ways (Eddie's tone, Cornell's range) that you just can't compare the two.

And Cornell also has a knack for tremendous covers -- Tulsa bartender-turned-American Idol David Cook performed Cornell's cover of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" back in 2008, and he's still remembered for it.

So it was good timing that this video of Cornell popped up online today. It's a tribute Cornell performed Friday night at a fundraiser for President Obama. He included this acoustic version of "I Will Always Love You."

Proof once again that Cornell is a great singer, and that a great song can be interpreted many ways -- from country, to ballad to impromptu acoustic rock.

Check it out:
