Oklahoma City weirdo rockers the Flaming Lips broke a world record last night, after 24 hours and eight full concerts on the road.

The Lips will now be listed in the Guinness Book of World Records -- besting a title earned by Jay-Z -- by gigging in eight cities between Memphis and New Orleans from 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Heck, they even beat Jay-Z's record a full show and less than an hour, sources report.

The stunt was part of MTv's O Music Awards. Frontman Wayne Coyne looks positively exhausted. (I wonder how his roadies feel.)

The clan journeyed by bus, picking up friends and performance partners Grace Potter, Jackson Browne and Neon Indian member Alan Palomo, who each "hitchhiked" a ride with the band's shows. When Jay-Z made his attempt, he traveled by jet.

Coyne called the feat "an absurd joy."

The trek was broadcast online live as part of the O Music Awards, which celebrated digital music. Three camera angles captured the bus' journey. Winners of the awards were Selena Gomez (best artist with a cameraphone), Karmin (best web-born artist), MNDR (beyond the DJ- most innovative solo performer), Tokio Hotel (fan army FTW) and Adam Lambert (must-follow artist on Twitter), according to Rolling Stone. Fans voted online for the winner, and the site said more than 43 million were cast.
