Tonight's Vice Presidential debate may or may not show how far apart Vice-President Joe Biden and Congressman Paul Ryan are but their choice in music speaks volumes of their differences – besides their ages, 69 and 42, respectively.
People magazine asked both men what songs made up the soundtrack of their lives, according to
people.com. Their answers probably won't surprise you.
Rep. Ryan, R-Wis:
Band I wish I could be in: "Led Zeppelin is my favorite band. But out of respect I could never imagine joining their ranks."
Song that reminds me of home: "At Wisconsin Badgers (college) football games in Madison, they start every fourth quarter with House of Pain's 'Jump Around,' so (that song) brings me back to Wisconsin.
Biggest surprise on my iPod: "Because of my (10-year-old) daughter Liz, I have a Hannah Montana playlist."
Vice-President Biden:
Band I wish I could be in: "The Chieftains. And I would sing 'Shenandoah' if I had an musical talent."
Song that's always in my head: "Ray Charles' 'I Can't Stop Loving You." I remember when it came out; it was my first year of college."
Song that reminds me of home: "'When Irish Eyes Are Smiling.' I think of my mother."
Song I blast in the car: "'Simply the Best' by Tina Turner. But I can't drive anymore (because I'm Vice President)!"
The debate airs tonight (Thursday) at 8 p.m. on NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, CNN, Fox News and CNBC.
