The winners of the 13th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition have been named, with two pianists sharing the gold medal.
Nobuyuke Tsujii of Japan, who has been blind since birth, and Haochen Zhang of China wre awarded the Nancy Lee and Perry B. Bass Gold Medal.
Of special interest to Oklahoma audiences in Yeol Eum Son of South Korea, who won the Silver Medal. This means that she will be the pianist performing the afternoon of June 17 at the Bartlesville Community Center, as part of OK Mozart International Festival.
The Festival contracted with the Van Cliburn to host the silver medalist's first recital. It will be at 2 p.m. in the Bartlesville High School Fine Arts Center.
