Lady Mary must move on with her life without Matthew by her side.

Mary, along with the rest of us, must move on at "Downton Abbey" without Matthew, but it's not going to be easy, as seen in the trailer for the fourth season of the Brit hit.

As Maggie Smith's wonderful character Violet tells her granddaughter, "You? have a straightforward choice before you. You must choose either death or life." Mary, in response: "And you think I should choose life?"

There is a good deal of crying, consoling and tea drank in this trailer, as well as what appears to be the set-up for an interracial relationship to be brought to Downton Abbey.

Enjoy this first look, and be patient. While the show begins soon in England, we'll have to wait for January's PBS premiere.
