Talking about "Mineshaft." Shut yo mouth!
Tulsa's talented media-creation studio Steelehouse Productions has gone viral -- again -- with "Mineshaft," its latest digital creation for Machinima, the gaming and media streaming website.
The folks at Steelehouse in June mashed up the "Man of Steel" movie trailer with block-building videogame Minecraft, and the result was a fun video on Youtube that has now been viewed 596,000 times.
It was so much fun, and so well-received, that the crew went back to work. This time the theme was blaxploitation films, and the cultural references are hilarious.
The result: Even in block form, detective John Shaft is still one bad mutha -- shut yo mouth!!
"Shaft" + Minecraft = "Mineshaft," described as the "first 'bloxploitation' film we've found and made," said Jason Behrman, one of the Steelehouse producers on this project.
"It's a nod. It's a wink. It's meant to be full of puns and fun," he added.
Tulsa's Steelehouse Productions is, as its website states, a media creation studio "providing creative, live action, motion design, animation and post production services to entertainment studios, advertising agencies and corporations throughout the world."
Enjoy their 11-minute "Mineshaft" here -- it's already been watched 363,379 times; now you can dig it -- and if you didn't see their "Mine of Steel" interpretation, that video is included here as well.
