The latest on Tropical Storm Isaac:

The Miami Herald reports that Isaac churned toward Hispaniola, a crossing expected today that could determine the potential impact on Florida but almost certainly will prove painful for Haiti, where hundreds of thousands remain homeless in the earthquake-shattered capital.

Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center told the Herald that the tropical storm, despite its massive size, remained disorganized, barely maintaining the minimum wind speed for tropical storms, 40 mph. But they still expected Isaac to strengthen — at least before it hits southern Haiti sometime Friday afternoon.

After the photos are two videos via the Associated Press. The first is a forecaster giving details on Isaac, the second is video on how residents in the storm's path are preparing.
