Vince Gill has a new gig.
He’s fighting the war on drugs.
Gill was recently officially sworn in as an “honorary narcotics officer,” reports The Boot online country music site.
He took an oath office and now has a badge from the McMinn County Sheriff’s Office, reported WRCB television out of Chattanooga, Tenn.
“I spoke with Vince last year about being a part of our efforts to reduce meth labs in McMinn County and East Tennessee,” Sheriff Joe Guy told WBIR television in Knoxville, Tenn. “He graciously agreed to add his name to our efforts, and we were finally able to meet with him to make the appointment.”
His role will be public relations as he helps raise awareness of drug abuse, which is meth-stricken, the site reported.
“I’ve never used drugs, and never had those types of problems,” Gill said. “If I had, my daddy would have killed me.”
