Oklahoma City resident and the "First Lady of Rock" aka "The Queen of Rockabilly,"
Wanda Jackson has released a new single on 7-inch vinyl.
The single is available at independent record stores across the nation, and features two new recordings. I'll update with the songs once I get those details, y'all.
The full album, "
Unfinished Business," drops on Oct. 9 on Sugar Hill Records, and was produced by musician and songwriter
Justin Townes Earle. The album artwork is by
Shooter Jennings, the couple posted on their Twitter account.
"From day one I really liked Justin’s idea to take me back to my roots and make a record of country, blues, and rockabilly songs," she said in a press statement.
"The band was extra tight and great to work with during the whole process. The record just sounds terrific and I’m hoping that my fans enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it.”
The full album will include her versions of “California Stars” (Woody Guthrie, Jay Bennett, Jeff Tweedy), “Pushover” (Billy Davis and Tony Clarke), “It’s All Over Now” (Bobby Womack and Shirley Jean Womack) and even an Earle duet on “Am I Even A Memory” (Greg Garing).
