Wanda Jackson will follow in the footsteps of some of this state’s most famous folks if
Oklahoma City Council members get their way.
The group set a final hearing for July 21 to name an alley “Wanda Jackson Way” after the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee from Maud.
She would follow the Oklahoma music acts the Flaming Lips, Charlie Christian and Vince Gill on the roster of Bricktown alley names in the downtown Oklahoma City district.
Jackson was the first woman to release a rock song, with “Let’s Have a Party,” recorded in 1959.
