Several readers have asked me if I would print a retraction on the Palin / Paul Revere history flap. They believe my cartoon was factually incorrect. Many years ago I did publish a "retraction cartoon." Readers appreciated it so much that I would do so again… but, it's really hard to draw that small… just kidding.

I've been doing this cartooning thingy for a while. So, when I heard Palin's tortured answer to the "gotcha" question: "What are you going to take away from your visit?" I started researching and found several references about how she had indeed gotten it right. I also read several references about how she was wrong: Revere didn't fire warning shots or ring bells, they said.

I also read that several of her followers had tried to change the Paul Revere Wikipedia page. If she was correct, why would they need to do that?

I try my very best to be factually correct in my work. So, if you'll notice, I did not say in my cartoon whether or not I thought she was wrong. I just quoted her rambling, incoherent words. I imagined (in my cartoon) how citizens would've reacted had she shouted those words on a midnight ride. If you recall, the sleepy citizen lamented how this was going to be a long campaign.

I think we all can agree on that.
