Filmmaker Ang Lee directs "Life of Pi," a visual knockout that opens in November.
Even if you have not read Yann Martel's bestselling book "Life of Pi," you can appreciate this film adaptation arriving in November based on the visual beauty of this new trailer.
Director Ang Lee makes such gorgeous films -- close your eyes and think of the cinematography of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" or "Brokeback Mountain." This tale of the journey of a lifetime, and of a man coexisting with a tiger, is his next triumph.
As I wrote in 2007 of Lee's masterful espionage thriller, "Lust, Caution": "Lee creates another artwork that, if at any point his film were paused, any single on-screen image would be suitable for framing."
Take a look at the trailer and see if you think the animal-lovers, among others, are going to be hooked by this film, scheduled to be released Nov. 21, the day before Thanksgiving.
