Guys, guys, (and gals, too), those skinny jeans you’re wearing may make you look cool…may even make you feel cool, but they may also be ‘the most dangerous pair of jeans you own,’ says menshealth.com.

If you haven’t heard already, wearing tight-fitting pants could lead to a condition called "meralgia paresthetica" – nerve damage to the upper part of your thighs, ABC News reported recently.

"It's similar to if you had a car sitting on a garden hose or you're going to water the lawn and your hose is wrapped around the tree a little bit and you're not getting a good flow of water,” physical therapist Sandie Klassen told WZVN-TV in Fort Meyers, Fla.

Are your thighs at risk? Dr. Karen Boyle with the Greater Baltimore Medical Center suggests in the article seeing if you have the following symptoms:

  • "Numbness and tingling, increased sensitivity, and a prickly feeling in your upper thighs, similar to when your foot falls asleep."

  • And the solution? Try looser-fitting jeans.

“Look for jeans where you have about an extra inch of fabric above the knee [to pull outward], and about double that below the knee,” Men’s Health Fashion Director Brian Boye says in the article.
