Thanksgiving is still more than a week away, but we're easing into the Christmas season with events and performances with holiday cheer.
One of the best takes place this weekend at Philbrook - and this one is free. Garden Glow is the lights-on celebration of thousands of lights all over the museum's grounds. It coincides with the kick off of the museum's Festival of Trees.
So, plan a week of twinkly lights, rock and roll, literary fortitude, butterfly gardening and shopping. Here are the details.
Monday: Lindsey BuckinghamStart your week with a concert by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Lindsey Buckingham. Best known for his years with Fleetwood Mac, he's been a solo artist since 1981. He's playing the Joint at the Hard Rock.

Tuesday: Literary Death MatchWatch as four Tulsa writers go head to head reading original works in front of a crowd and panel of judges. The writer who wins in the first round will proceed to the next until one is ruled the winner of this death match. The event is produced by Book Smart and takes place at Congregation B'Nai Emunah. Players include Cary Aspinwall, Tulsa World; Mark Brown, This Land Press; Jennie Lloyd, Urban Tulsa Weekly; and Sloan Davis, Nimrod Journal.
When: Doors open at 6 p.m. Show begins at 7:15 p.m.

Wednesday: Barron RyanDonald Ryan has long been a beloved part of Tulsa's music scene. Over the last few years, his son, Barron, has joined his ranks, as they often play as a father-son duo. But Wednesday's show is a showcase of Barron, who studied piano at the University of Oklahoma and is a soloist at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame.

Thursday: Butterfly GardeningLearn about the beauty of butterflies in your garden in a presentation by nature photographer Bryan Reynolds. Reynolds will share his experiences with butterflies in his presentation "Butterflies...Here Today, Gone Tomorrow." Master Gardener Jim Thayer will give a brown bag lecture at noon Thursday on how to attract butterflies to your garden.

Friday: An Affair of the HeartReady to start Christmas shopping? An Affair of the Heart comes to the QuikTrip Center at Expo Square Friday through Sunday, and it's packed with gifts. Calling it a craft fair doesn't accurately explain this huge marketplace of jewelry, clothes, food and tons of handmade items for the home.
When: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday

Saturday: Philbrook's Festival of Trees and Garden GlowSaturday's the kick off for the lights and decorations of Christmas at Philbrook. The Festival of Trees, which features fabulously decorated trees and gingerbread villages, begins Saturday and runs through Dec. 11. Kids and adults will love every detail of these edible villages, made by local school children and artists.
Garden Glow is Philbrook's illumination of thousands of lights on the museum grounds. Lights will be on every Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m., with the lights-on celebration on Saturday.
