Just over a week into January, I've already heard people talking about feeling the doldrums of the month.
If you're looking for something fun to do with your family, there's plenty going on this week, including several free events. One of the best? A chance to learn to ice skate - for free- at the Oilers Ice Center on Thursday and Saturday.

Monday: Bedlam basketballTake off early from work Monday and head to Stillwater where the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State men's basketball teams face off at Gallager-Iba Arena. If you'd rather stay home, you can watch the game on ESPNU.

Wednesday: Chili Bowl racesIt's a big week for racing fans. Races are happening every night this week for the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals. Qualifying races are 6 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

But if you want a free class, the center is offering several opportunities, including this week on Thursday and Saturday. The classes are perfect for families, since they're open for kids ages 3 and older, as well as adults.

Friday: "Waiting for Lefty"With the holiday shows behind us, here's a one-act play with a more serious tone. "Waiting for Lefty" is the 1935 story of ordinary people during the Depression, and it reveals how they deal with corruption, fear and injustice. It begins Friday and runs through Jan. 21

Saturday: Tulsa Promenade Kids ClubIt's a Super Bowl theme at the Tulsa Promenade Mall's Kids Club Saturday afternoon. Kids are invited to sing, dance and play during this interactive play time for kids of all ages. Door prizes will be given.
