It may be a while before sculptor Shan Gray's "The American" is constructed, perhaps near Sand Springs. It would be taller than the Statue of Liberty and, well, totally awesome.

As I tell y'all in my Weekend column Thursday morning, I'm anxious to see "The American" statue be built.

In the mean time, though, I sated my love for statues and such (creepy as that just sounded) by visiting three local landmarks, affording myself a close-up view to each that I haven't experienced before.

That made me think about other Tulsa landmarks, or geographical and architectural icons that automatically make you think of Tulsa when you see them. What are your favorites? And, if you're so inclined to tell, why?

Peace, love and statuary ... XOXO
