Max Schreck as the titular character in "Nosferatu," one of my favorite horror flicks.

I'm game for a good horror movie any ol' time, but I'm especially in the mood for it Halloween season, which officially kicked off at 12:01 a.m. Monday, according to

Actually, that was a total lie. Aren't lies fun? But I was serious about horror films, my favorites of which range from old ones like "Nosferatu" to newer ones like "The Cabin in the Woods."

I'm not into "torture porn," as some folks call movies like the "Saw" series, or movies that rely more on blood and gore than plot with frequent flecks of scare tactics. Give me a good old-fashioned ghost story any day. Of course, I like my vampires, werewolves and zombies, too.

What are your favorite scary movies? I may not have seen them, so please recommend something.

Peace, love and screams ... XOXO
