I'll admit - I am not a meteorologist.
So where does this not-a-meteorologist go to get her weather statistics and other information? Here are some great resources for meteorologists and non-meteorologists alike:
tulsaworld.com/nwsThis is the National Weather Service site for Tulsa. Here you can find statistics for the region (yes, especially Tulsa) including daily high and low temperatures, rainfall amounts by hour or day or even the month, as well as any alerts, advisories, watches or warnings.
tulsaworld.com/ozonealertThis is one you especially need this time of year for this area. Brought to you by Indian Nations Council of Governments and the state Departmnent of Environmental Quality, this site will show current ozone readings for the area, offer advice on what to do to keep ozone levels in check, and of course, tell you if it's an ozone alert day.
tulsaworld.com/burnbanAnother important one this time of year, especially this season. This gives you a map (provided by Oklahoma Forestry Services) of which counties are under burn bans, either issued by the county or governor, and what dates the burn bans are for.
tulsaworld.com/mesonetIf you love weather maps, this one's for you and it's specifically Oklahoma weather. The Mesonet takes information from the National Weather Service and places it on a state map. Information like rainfall, high temperatures, wind speed, you name it, then it breaks it down by a 24-hour period, for a few days, for a week, for a month, etc.
tulsaworld.com/significantweatherHere is one that I just made a short link for. If you are researching recent significant weather events for the Tulsa region (eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas), this one's for you. Tornadoes from April, high temperatures from June, snowfall and cold temperatures from February, it's all recapped here.
tulsaworld.com/tulsaweatherrecordsAnother one I just created, knowing how much fun it is to see what weather records Tulsa and the surrounding area has for different categories.
tulsaworld.com/oklahomadroughtIn case you're wondering how severe the drought is in Oklahoma, this U.S. Drought Monitor page will tell you. Conditions don't look to favorable right now for western Oklahoma. Or eastern Oklahoma, for that matter.
tulsaworld.com/weatherPowered by the Tulsa staff of the National Weather Service! Receive weather alerts, forecasts and current conditions as the staff issues them at the same site for your local news!
tulsaworld.com/weatherworldAnd if you ever have difficulty finding this blog, that's the link you'll want to bookmark :)
