While one quarterback will get a jump-start on leadership duties, both reiterated following Saturday’s spring game that the player atop the depth chart isn’t assured of a starting role at Iowa State on Sept. 1. Competition probably won’t be completed until two-a-days end in August.
Through the spring, the pair has bonded. Both want overall success for the team.
“We’re both good buddies,” Henderson said after Saturday’s spring game. “When I come off the field, he’ll tell me what I did wrong and vice-versa and something he could have missed. It’s not like an enemy competition. It’s a friendly battle.”
Green said, no matter the post-spring depth chart, he’s going to work hard over the summer.
“I’m going to be preparing during the summer as I am the starter,” Green said. “That’s how I’ve been raised and it’s been instilled in me. Whatever they say ... I’m still going to prepare as I am the starter and get the offense ready to go into Iowa State and get a W.”
