Will Sooners be as bored with KU as they appeared this time last year?

Oklahoma has handled business the week after Texas just fine over Bob Stoops' 13 years. The Sooners have beaten Kansas five times, Iowa State three times, Kansas State twice, Missouri twice and Texas A&M once. No slip-ups.

How have the Sooners handled wild success against the Longhorns? How have they done the week after their three proudest Red River wins? That might give us a gauge as to their preparedness this weekend against KU.

In 2000, the Sooners had to be on point. They traveled to No. 3 Kansas State. A packed house was out for blood, with their first shot at an OU staff full of former Bill Snyder assistants.

The Sooners were on point all right. They led 17-7 after the first quarter and 31-14 at the half. K-State rallied late, but OU used its early cushion to prevail 41-31.

It was more of the same in 2003, the week after OU's 65-13 drubbing of Texas. The Sooners hosted Missouri, 5-1 at the time and with a quarterback, Brad Smith, who had embarrassed OU the previous year in Columbia.

By halftime in the rematch at Owen Field, Smith had made one big play – a 26-yard touchdown run – but there was no keeping up with the No. 3 Sooners. Jason White hit Mark Clayton and Jejuan Rankins for long touchdown strikes and Antonio Perkins brought back a punt 69 yards for score.

It was 31-10 at the half and 34-13 after OU coasted home.

Last year, one week after a 55-17 Red River rout, the pattern finally broke. The Sooners showed symptoms of their first Texas hangover before pulling away from Kansas.

Kenny Stills slipped as Landry Jones threw incomplete on the first play of the game. Two snaps later, Jones rushed a third-and-10 throw to Ryan Broyles and OU punted, something many figured wouldn't happen all game against an awful KU defense.

By the end of the first quarter, Jones had connected with Stills for 6, but KU had answered with James Sims' 56-yard touchdown run. The Sooners settled for a 10-7 lead, and were only up 27-17 at the half and 30-17 through three quarters.
