Film stars Harrelson, who started out on TV’s "Cheers," and best friend McConaughey have signed on to star in "True Detective," a new police drama, as detectives Martin Hart and Rust Cohle whose lives become entangled professionally and personally during a 17-year hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana, according to deadline.com. The investigation starts with a strange murder in 1995 but includes testimony from 2012 when the case is reopened, reported the website.
The plan for the eight-episode series is to solve the initial murder mystery then move on with the same structure but with new characters and storylines in later seasons - a la "American Horror Story."
