Francis Ford Coppola is coming to Circle Cinema — on the big screen.

The director of "The Godfather" films and "Apocalypse Now" will appear live next week at Tulsa's arthouse theater via Skype video presentation shown on the theater screen. He will speak and answer audience questions immediately following Friday's noon screening of his new film, "Tetro," at Circle Cinema, 12 S. Lewis Ave.

Written, directed, produced and even distributed by Coppola, "Tetro" opens Friday, Aug. 28, at the theater and plays for a week. The picture tells the story of a man searching for his brother, a once-gifted writer, who has been missing for years. Vincent Gallo ("Buffalo '66") stars as the man on a journey to find and understand his bond with this sibling.

Coppola spent many months in Tulsa in the early 1980s filming "The Outsiders" and "Rumble Fish," back-to-back pictures based on the writings of local author S.E. Hinton.

The event at Circle Cinema should be a pretty tough ticket. The theater holds 110, and the overflow gallery area with a second smaller screen seats about 40 comfortably. There is standing-room viewing for more.

The suggestion is to arrive early if you want to ask Coppola about his five decades of filmmaking.
