Entertainment Weekly created another of their ubiquitous lists last week — top 20 vampires in media history — and gave notice that the Tulsa duo that created the “House of Night” series have made quite an impact on readers and on pop culture in general.
Zoey Redbird, P.C. and Kristin Cast’s teen Tulsa protagonist from their books set in a vampire finishing school, finished No. 12 on EW’s list, finishing behind obvious choices like Bela Lugosi’s Dracula, the boys from HBO’s sexy “True Blood” and, of course, Robert Pattison’s hottie from “Twilight.”
But Zoey proved more popular on the magazine’s list than, among others, Wesley Snipes’ “Blade,” Kate Beckinsale’s character from the “Underworld” films and Kiefer Sutherland’s bad boy from “Lost Boys.”
This vampire-centric issue also briefly interviewed P.C. Cast (as they did Anne Rice, Stephenie Meyer and Charlaine Harris) on a few biting subjects. I was a huge fan of Joss Whedon’s “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel” series, so I enjoyed Cast’s response when asked her own favorite vampire outside of her own series.
“Oh, my God, Spike (the silver-haired, sarcastic wit from “Buffy”),” Cast told EW. “Please. Spike is my boyfriend. In my heart, Spike is my boyfriend.”
