* College Basketball Is A Joke

* The regular season.

Name something as worthless as the college hoop regular season.

The college hoop one and done rule is a contender for most hideous.

Regular season championships should determine automatic bids, not greedy tournaments.

Name one regular season game that meant much this year.

Sometimes the oddball regular season upset helps a team squeak into the tournament. But this pretender never gets anywhere.

About all the regular season does now is seed the confelrence tournaments.

They're talking about expanding the tournament to include all teams standing at the end. How greedy and dumb is that? What's the harm? Lousy coaches get to keep their jobs.

This rule applies: If you nobody good would hire your coach, fire him or her.

If somebody decent might hire him or her, give it another year.

Expanding the field to 96 teams will make the CBB regular season almost totally meaningless. This will mean that a team with a losing record could actually make the Big Dance. With this format, OU would've been on the bubble to make the NCAA Tourney this season.

In addition, we need to reduce the field to 64, and get rid of that stupid play-in game. There's no way that 65th team in the tourney will win the national title. In fact, that 65th team probably won't even make it past the first round. The play-in game is also demoralizing to the two teams that are playing each other.

What ? You're just mad it looks like OSU will be in the NCAA thing when you predicted they more likely wouldn't get there ?

Calling the regular season a joke may be a little harsh. The regular season still has some meaning in college bball. Thanks to a regular season in which they could not beat any of the top teams in the conference. Tulsa did not get a bye in the first round of the Conf USA tournament, making it all but impossible to make a run for the NCAA. A couple of bad losses in the regular season by a team may cause them to slip from a 5th seed to an 8th or 9th seed. Making it tougher to win a first round game and then having to play a one seed in the second round game.

Is it fair that a team that won the regular season title can be bumped from the tournament by a team that got hot for a couple of days? Probably not but it makes for a great early month of March. For bball junkies last night was great. Siena knowing the only way to get into the tournament after a great regular season was to make a great come back and win the game in OT. Wofford holding on to gain it’s first ever NCAA bid. Would not have had a those games without the one and done aspect of college basketball.

Expanding the tournament to 96 games would be terrible. Why do they want ruin something that is already one of best sporting events of the year? So coaches can say they got in the tournament when there year end reviews come up.

The Picker is sharing his sour grapes because OSU is the only state school that will be in the tournament after he predicted the other major two had a better chance.

One regular season game that meant much? Um, OSU beating KU? That pretty much secured OSU a spot in the tourney. How about K-State losing to ISU? It doesn't do anything for ISU but it definitely takes K-State out of the discussion for a 1 seed.

"About all the regular season does now is seed the conference tournaments."

Well that's about the dumbest thing ever posted. So you're saying that KU's regular season record will have nothing to do with where they are seeded in the NCAA tourney? Are you kidding?

Picker, I think you need a vacation to relax, clear your head, and come back with blogs worth reading. It's getting pretty bad.

How much does the regular season might right now in NCAA basketball? Quite a bit. Since the field expanded from 32 to 64 (um, 65) teams in 1985, 15 of the 25 teams that have won the national title have been one seeds. The success of their regular seasons had a lot to do with getting that coveted No. 1 seed. Yes, the regular season still means a lot. My biggest concern about possibly expanding the field to 96 (or more) teams would be the decreased importance of the regular season in college basketball. I think a team should have to earn a trip to the Big Dance.

The first two days of the NCAA Tourney are almost always more compelling then any two days of "Bowl Season"

Yes, the regular season games in college football are more important then regular season college basketball games, but that's only because basketball had a superior way to decide their championship as opposed to the BCS garbage.
