3 names to remember as Signing Day nears

With Signing Day less than a week away, let’s revisit this assessment of Oklahoma recruit Brandon Williams from Texas’ Burnt Orange Nation blog, dated last Feb. 10:

“Wow. Gimme, gimme. It doesn't take long for Williams to blow you away on film. Closest thing to Adrian Peterson since AD himself -- runs hard, has elite speed, but is probably an even more polished receiver than AD at the same age. Has the size to be effective in blitz pick up. No questions about size or speed.”

If he's good enough for the Longhorns and their recruiting machine, Williams ought to be gold for the Sooners. So there is your crown jewel to the OU’s Singing Day Class of ’11. The fact that Williams is already enrolled and will go through the upcoming spring season only heightens the anticipation.

ESPN’s Corey Long says the Williams/Peterson comparisons were renewed at the recent Under Armour All-American Game.

Long also highlights a couple more prospects in OU’s class who may not equal Williams’ hype, but who could make as big an impact before they’re done in Norman.

“Don’t be surprised,” Long writes, “if defensive line recruits Nathan Hughes and Jordan Wade continue the tradition of first-round draft picks to come through Oklahoma. There are visions of these two talents terrorizing opposing backfields for the next 3-4 years.”

I look forward to seeing Brandon Williams in the Crimson and Cream....If he is 75% as good as AD, he will be great...But I still rate OU players against the very BEST....JOE WASHINGTON.

I had been seeing people compare him to Peterson, some say he could be better because of his receiving skills. I guess we will have to see. Thats pretty bold talk but I hope he is. Things are looking very exciting in Norman for the next few years.

Don't count your recruits before signing day is over. Even those on campus may get the jitters and go somewhere else.

Right Danny boy. He's already enrolled, moved in and taking classes..... and he's going to change his mind and move out before February 2nd. Goodness son.
