9 a.m. Bedlam is Bad Idea

The Big 12 scheduled a 9 a.m. Wednesday Bedlam baseball game for Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in Oklahoma City.
Bad idea.
In a city where Thundermania is smashing all other forms of sports and entertainment, getting a crowd for Bedlam baseball at any hour would be difficult.
But, playing at 9 a.m. makes no sense.
Forget placing the seeds in some sort of proper order. This is college baseball. Do whatever it takes to draw more fans.
Playing Bedlam baseball at 9 a.m. is just bad business on the part of the Big 12.
Even though Oklahoma was the No. 4 seed, and Oklahoma State was No. 5, the game should have been the featured game of the opening day at 7 p.m.
If the tournament was in Round Rock, then Texas or Baylor, regardless of their seeds, should be in the featured game.
Seeding for the NCAA Tournament is pretty much finished by this time. The Big 12 Baseball Tournament is about making a few dollars for the league.
So, do the smart thing and play Bedlam at night. If no Bedlam, and the tournament is in Oklahoma, then OU or OSU should be in the featured evening game.
The Thunder may have killed any chance for the Big 12 to have any success, or interest, in Oklahoma City.
Still, the Big 12 must give itself a chance to be successful. Work the bracket to put local teams in the game slots that make financial sense.
