AP Top 25: How I voted
Published: 1/28/2013 10:33 PM
Last Modified: 1/28/2013 10:33 PM

This week's AP Top 25 men's college basketball poll was released Monday:

1. Michigan 19-1
2. Kansas 18-1
3. Indiana 18-2
4. Florida 16-2
5. Duke 17-2
6. Syracuse 18-2
7. Gonzaga 19-2
8. Arizona 17-2
9. Butler 17-3
10. Oregon 18-2
11. Ohio State 15-4
12. Louisville 16-4
13. Michigan State 17-4
14. Miami 15-3
15. Wichita State 19-2
16. Ole Miss 17-2
17. Missouri 15-4
18. Kansas State 15-4
19. N.C. State 16-4
20. New Mexico 17-3
21. Creighton 18-3
22. San Diego State 16-4
23. Minnesota 15-5
24. Cincinnati 16-4
25. Marquette 14-4

Here's how I voted:

1. Michigan
2. Kansas
3. Indiana
4. Florida
5. Gonzaga
6. Syracuse
7. Arizona
8. Duke
9. Ohio State
10. Miami
11. Butler
12. Louisville
13. Oregon
14. Michigan State
15. Wichita State
16. Missouri
17. Ole Miss
18. New Mexico
19. Kansas State
20. Georgetown
21. Creighton
22. N.C. State
23. Cincinnati
24. San Diego State
25. Minnesota

Dropped from the rankings were Virginia Commonwealth (19th) and Notre Dame (24th).

Fourteen teams in the previous week's poll went down, including three teams that lost twice. Among those was No. 5 Louisville, which dropped three straight before holding off Pittsburgh on Monday.

I was surprised Georgetown didn't get in, although it was the first team out. The Hoyas picked up a victory at Notre Dame and beat Louisville last week. They've won four of their last five games, despite losing No. 2 scorer Greg Whittington to academic issues.

I was tempted to put Louisiana Tech at No. 25 but ultimately went with Minnesota, which has a much higher CBSSports.com RPI (11 vs. 42). But the Bulldogs have won 10 straight and are starting to get some votes.

While Kansas (No. 2) and Kansas State (No. 18) remain the only Big 12 teams that are ranked, Baylor could work its way in over the next few weeks, starting with wins against Oklahoma on Wednesday and Iowa State on Saturday.

Games to watch this week:
Wisconsin at No. 11 Ohio State, 6 p.m. Tuesday
No. 14 Miami at No. 19 N.C. State, 3 p.m. Saturday
No. 16 Ole Miss at No. 4 Florida, 6 p.m. Saturday
No. 25 Marquette at No. 12 Louisville, 1 p.m. Sunday
