A Big Bedlam

Oklahoma's crushing victory over Texas Tech has put extra emphasis on this week's Bedlam game in Stillwater.
Of course, it takes two to tangle and in this case we've got a couple of teams with big stakes.
Oklahoma State's season has helped make this probably the biggest Bedlam game in 24 years. It could have an impact on the national championship game. It could impact the BCS bowl games.
It could help decide the Big 12 South Division.
And, not just for Oklahoma. Yes, Oklahoma State has plenty to play for, as well.
The Cowboys could reach 10 victories and be on the verge of a major bowl game.
Beating Oklahoma has always been huge to the Cowboys.
So, Bedlam is big not just because it is in-state rivals.
Bedlam matters more this year because it matters to a whole lot of folks around the country.

John, can you believe that the loser of Bedlam this year will technically finish FOURTH in the Big 12 South? Doesn't seem quite fair with the seasons that both teams have had in 2008, does it?

This season has been so crazy you'd almost want the South to end in a 4-way tie (which it could if OU, Texas, and TT lose ... by the way TT would own the tiebreaker in this case) ... but that would knock OU or UT (or both) out of the NC and the survivor of the South deserves to go to the NC ... but Dash, you're right, the loser of Bedlam will be 4th ... that shows you how short of a distance it is from the penthouse to the outhouse.

I agree - what a tremendous year for the Big 12 South - if you want the regular season to be a playoff then lets use it to decide a national championship - look at it this way the NC contestants this year will be less clear than the Big 12 South representative...... Go figure NCAA!

I hate to say it, but the SEC has had this problem pop up a few times since the inception of the BCS. I guess it's just our (as in BIG XII- South's) turn to deal with it.
