A Nervous Wait for Angel
Published: 6/17/2007 7:09 PM

If it had been Niclas Fasth, who finished fourth, or Bubba Watson, tied for fifth, with a shot to beat Angel Cabrera it wouldn't have been as dramatic.
Fasth and Watson were near the lead throughout Sunday's final round at the U.S. Open.
However, Cabrera got to the clubhouse with a one-shot lead and then watched as Jim Furyk, No. 3 in the world, and Tiger Woods, No. 1, took their final shots.
They couldn't get it done and Cabrera won the second major of the season.
The fourth major will be the PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club in August.
Cabrera earned his championship. To win a tournament, when Woods and Furyk are on the leaderboard and within a shot down the stretch, is impressive.
So, don't undervalue Cabrera's ability to come to Tulsa and contend.
If a player can handle the shots it takes to win at Oakmont, he has the game to win at Southern Hills.
And, he has the nerves to survive a day when every time he looked around there were Woods and Furyk.

I think it's sad that the entire PGA has become about media darling Tiger Woods.

It seems it's all about "Tiger Wins!" or, if he doesn't, "Tiger Falls!"

It's never, "Cabrera Wins!" The entire focus of the media is on Woods. That's crap, and lazy to boot.
